Is it ok to use flannel cloth or something other than silver cloth to store silver?
Has anyone had experience with silver cloth? That's the fabric you can purchase by the yard and wrap your sterling silver with so that the silver doesn't tarnish while in storage. Silver cloth is typically a flannel material that's treated with an anti-tarnish chemical, however, it's very expensive (around $20/yard), and I'd like to know if I can get away with just buying untreated flannel material at Walmart for $5.00 a yard. Will this work? I'd hate to go to all that trouble of cleaning my sterling only to have to do it again in a couple months. I need a lot of yardage and it would probably cost me about $200 to cover all my silver using the higher-priced, treated silver cloth. Please help!
I use flannel mainly beucase I didn't know silver cloth existed and I have no problems with tarnishing. You should be fine.
